Rajasthan is a state (province) of India. This got the name RAJASTHAN means. “The place of kings” because before independence (1947) there were more then hundred king in our state who called RAJA.
Southern part of Rajasthan is surrounded by hills and mountains called ARAVALIS, which is forest region. This part is populated by a tribal community called BHILS, who are most backward and poor. So, this southern part of the state called TRIBAL REGION, which included five districts i.e. UDAIPUR, DUNGARPUR, BANSWARA, SIROHI and CHITTOR. 23 blocks of these 5 districts are declared as TRIBAL SUB PLAN (TSP) area by state Govt. for speedy development of tribes of the region. Total population of tribals in state is 12% but 6% (about 28 lacks) lives in this T.S.P. area, who are BHILS which is most backward and vulnerable group among TRIBES of Rajasthan, TRIBAL AREA DEV. DEPT. (TADA) is responsible for the development of TSP area having headquarter at UDAIPUR. There is a Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) in chairman ship of Governor of state, which review the progress of TSP. area and give suggestion time to time to the Govt. Govt. of india also run some tribal dev. programmes through TADA. Our coordinator Mr. Zai remains TAC member in Govt. of Rajasthan during 1999 to 2003 and played most effective role.
There were dense forest in past but slowly-slowly it is converting in grave-yard of naked hills and mountains due to poverty of forest dwellers and corruption of forest department. Due to poverty and illiteracy, non-tribal people encouraged local involved in corrupt practices and every one can see heavy misuse of foreign funds every where. A Forestation and people’s participation is happening on only papers and survival rate is negligible.
Annual average rain fall of the region is 600 mm. Which always falls in four months (July to Oct.) called rainy season of MONSOON. Due to lack of irrigation facilities, village farmers depend upon rainfall which never come properly.
