Our founder coordinator Mr. S.K.
Yusuf Zai started his struggle and
founded Gram Vikas Samiti (R.D.S.)
in 1972, the socio-economic and
political condition of village Kherwara
and other surrounding tribal villages
was very pity.
There were some so-called politicians,
who were dominating local administration
and exploiting illiterate and backward
villagers, who were tribes and backward
down trodden communities including
village artisans like pot makers,
Iron smiths, Carpenters and tailors
etc.
There was one GRAM PANCHAYAT (G.P.)
(Govt. approved village Governing
body) and one Farmers Cooperative.
G.P. was responsible to provide
land to small petty traders and
village artisans to run their trade
but due to corruption, eligible
were unable to get any plot. G.P.
was not doing his duty properly
and villagers were facing sanitation,
light and drinking water problems.
All schools were also in poor condition
and streets and roads were useless.
By this way, complete Panchyat system
was pralised and villagers were
in big trouble.
Other side local cooperative was
exploiting it’s member farmers
and not giving seed and fertilizer
in time. Treasurer of coop was cheating
to members in loan recoveries. Coop
was diverted from it’s objectives.
GVS fully involved in relief and
development of down trodden classes
and got success as follows-
(a)Village Panchayat become active
and transparent and started giving
response to voiceless people.
(b)Sanitation and lighting condition
improved in town.
(c)Poor village artisans and petty
traders got commercial plots in
main market, at bus stand and other
important places on nominal charges
or economical rent basis.
(d)Banks and cooperatives started
helping poor farmers and village
artisans.
(e)Police and other Govt. agencies
become alert and started listening
to ordinary man.
(f)Corrupt practices controlled
and Govt. officials have changed
their attitude and behaviour with
common man.
