How peoples rewarded us in elections
Since 1965, Panchayat elections were due. So, when a new radical Govt. named JANTA PARTY came in power in India. They organised panchayat body elections in the state after 13 years (working period of panchayat was only 3 years)
Any way, these panchayat Raj, elections changed total political and social scenario of Kherwara block including total region. About 90% new chaps elected as a panchayat representatives. In Assembly elections, MLA also was elected form this group, from Kherwara constituency. All those youths, who were volunteers of GVS elected with tremendous margin of Votes. Mr. Zai also elected Dy. Sarpanch of G.P. Kherwara and Secretary of Farmers cooperative. This was golden period for GVS. Who played important role in sustainable development of Kherwara block. GVS have also trained new leadership in the area which encouraged youths of other areas. In 1982 Mr. Zai came in contact of OXFAM (UK) and got information regarding foreign aid. Field Officer of Oxfam Mr. M.M. Mistry visited Kherwara and suggested about registration under FCRA of GVS. After registration, Oxfam field director Mr. Pramod Unla visited GVS and sanctioned a small project of Awareness building.
In 1985, Mr. Zai selected Field Officer in OXFAM (Ahmedabad base office). He remain four years in Oxfam and applied his STRATEGY & APPROACH in expansion of Voluntary sector in south Rajasthan and North Gujarat. When he left Oxfam, there were about 60 grassroot volags, who were active in development field. Mr. Zai also encouraged grassroots to be unite and this policy resulted formation of our NGO. federation named ARAVALI VOLUNTEERS SOCIETY RAJASTHAN in 1986-87.
