Profile of Rural Development Society

In the working area of RDS aAbout 40 to 50 percent land is available for cultivation which is also hilly and uneven. Only 8 to 20 percent cultivable land have irrigation facilities. Land holding among tribal families varies block to block but in our target blocks Kherwara, Jhadol, rearing and labour works. Tribals keep cows, goats and sheep. Some well to do families also rear buffaloes. They plough fields with the help of bullocks and use animals dung as a fertilizer for their rain crop.

Due to dependency on rain crop, less rain fall or any irregularity creates DROUGHT situation and it claim big number of animals. Due to degradation of forests and improper development policies of Govt. our region is ocnverted in DROUGHT PRONE AREA. Every third year we face drought and now it is our fate. All drought always made victims to local tribal, who are backward and poor.

Local tribals are socially backward having several social draw backs like DEATH FEAST, POLLY MARRIAGES, CHILD MARRIAGE, BRIDE PRICE, ENMITY (REVENGE SYSTEM WITH VIOLENCE) and Heavy use of country liquor etc. Other side literacy percentage is also very low in all TSP area. Among tribal women, literacy percentage is very low (less then 1% in tribal blocks such as KOTRA and DHARIAWAD).

Condition of village amenities is also very poor in tribal region. More than 60% village are without Tar roads, health care centers and electricity. Facilities of Telephones, transports and Banks is a dream for rural areas.
